YELLOW FALL ENGAGEMENTS IN BIG COTTONWOOD CANYON

YELLOW FALL ENGAGEMENTS IN BIG COTTONWOOD CANYON.

Colton and Kersten got engaged at the perfect time to have their engagements taken in the yellow fall leaves!! The yellow leaves are UNREAL in Big Cottonwood Canyon, and Big Cottonwood is one of my favorite places to photograph all year long. It always looks so pretty!! It is also easy to get to the pine trees, which is actually kind of hard to find in some parts of the Utah mountains.

Colton and my husband knew each other growing up, and so before I shot their engagement photos, I had met him in passing once or twice. Colton actually has such an infectious laugh, and he’s always laughing. We had so much fun taking their photos!! We started in Park City because that is where they got engaged. Then, we headed up Big Cottonwood Canyon and shot the rest of their engagements at Jordan Pines. If you have never done that drive when the yellow fall leaves are in their prime, you need to add it to your list THIS YEAR. The aspen trees become so vibrant that they truly look unreal. It looks like the trees are neon yellow, and I thought that color only existed on a crayola crayon and not a natural color somewhere in nature.

Originally, Colton and Kersten were going to get married in Idaho the following summer, but they ended up moving their wedding up to December and having an intimate wedding in Hawaii. After they were married, we went and took wedding photos in Idaho on the lava rocks. It was such a fun night, and things really came full circle for us!! I wasn’t able to shoot their wedding in Hawaii, but they did take wedding photos on lava rocks there, so we did it again in Idaho where they live.
