WOODSY MOUNTAIN WEDDING — BIG COTTONWOOD CANYON.
Mike and Messa’s wedding currently goes down as the wedding that had the most changes due to COVID-19. The original plan was to have their wedding near Tamarack, Idaho. Mike and Messa met because they are both river rafting guides. Honestly, is there a cooler way to meet? I don’t think so. They both love the outdoors and love rafting, so for their wedding, we were going to go raft the river before their wedding and turn it into a weekend wedding celebration. Their date also had moved around a bit to make sure it was going to be warm enough in Idaho for people to raft.
Then COVID-19 hit.
All of their plans changed. Mike and Messa made the hard decision to not only move their wedding closer to home, but they also decided to split all of the celebrations up. They picked a campground up in Big Cottonwood Canyon to hold their ceremony. Mike handled all of the setup, and they pretty much split the day up into two celebrations–one with family and one with friends.
We started the morning off with the two of them getting ready, then Messa did a really cute first look with her dad and brother. Then they had such a cute intimate ceremony with their immediate families, and then they had their wedding on zoom, too, so that all of their friends and family could watch. After the ceremony, they took some time to jump on zoom and chat with everyone, too! Then we had lunch, toasts, and some field games with their families.
We had a little bit of a break between the two celebrations to do the portraits of mike and messa, too. The weather was so pretty and perfect! They could not have picked a prettier campground spot, either. Everything about it was so awesome, and it made their woodsy mountain wedding amazing.
They ended the night with hanging out with their friends and getting their wedding rings tattooed on. HOW COOL IS THAT?
