Dhruv and Lyndi chose the sand dunes as the location for their first look. When they got married, they were combining their Indian and American cultures, and they wanted their formals to reflect that, too. Lyndi had two looks, and I do not think that I could choose a favorite if I had to. Lyndi told me that she picked the sand dunes because it reminded her of Aladdin, and honestly, it was perfect.
The sand dunes can be so hit or miss with the weather. If it is at all windy at the sand dunes, then you do not want to be out there. When the sand hits you, it hurts so bad! But it is also not good for your gear to be out when the wind is blowing the sand all over. I do know that it can ruin your gear if it gets too much sand stuck in it.
If you are thinking of shooting out at the Salt Flats, whether it is for your own Indian first look or some other photoshoot, I highly recommend it! It’s so pretty, and if you go to the right places out there, it’s so awesome. I am pretty certain that it does snow out there, so winters are kind of hard out there, but when there isn’t snow outside, it’s awesome.
Lyndi and Dhruv have been married now for 5 or so years, and they recently opened their own business selling Butter Chicken Spice Kits. Their business is called Lotus and Dilli, and their logo is inspired by these formal photos we took for their Sand Dune Indian first look, which is so cool for me to see!!!
