Golden Hour Salt Flats Formals – Bonneville Salt Flats

The Salt Flats are another planet. I do not know how else to explain it. I still remember the first time I went out there. I was blown away! I had seen it in photos, and it really does look the same in person as it does in pictures, but it really blows me away every single time. The Bonneville Salt Flats are so hard to comprehend if you have not been there. I’ve shot there quite often, and it still is so cool every time I go. It also looks different each time I go, too! It could be flooded, flat, cracked, or have these ridges on it.

When I did Hunter and Emily’s engagements, we were talking about their formals and where they wanted to do them. Em said that she thought her dress would look really cool with the Salt Flats, and then she showed it to me, and I 100% agreed with her! The Salt Flats were the perfect spot for their golden hour formals. I kept my eyes on the flats to make sure they did not flood before their session. We were waiting on a few things before doing their formals, and I was so nervous that we would not make it to the flats before they flooded for the winter. A couple of years ago, I had driven all the way to the salt flats only to find they were completely flooded. Like, it was a lake. If you can fit the flats at the perfect time, then sometimes it is also covered in a small layer of water. It’s super reflective and so cool! That usually happens when it is spring or right after it rains or snows. It just melts and floods, and it is FREEZING!
