DETAILS OF
RAINY KAUAI ELOPEMENT AT TUNNELS BEACH.
Ralph and Brittney originally were planning a wedding in the mountains of Utah, but as their date got closer, they opted to change things up and have an elopement in Hawaii instead. We started from a blank slate with planning. They knew they wanted to elope in Hawaii, but they didn’t even know which island yet. After they weighed the pros and cons of each Hawaiian island, they decided on Kauai. I then researched the beaches in Kauai and talked with people who had visited, and I sent Ralph and Brittney a handful of beaches that I thought would be ideal for their elopement. They looked into each of those, and they decided that Tunnels Beach was the perfect spot for their rainy Kauai elopement.
They chose the date of their 6th anniversary as the perfect date for their elopement, too. Kellon and I flew in a few days early to go scope out the beach and make sure we knew exactly where we should do the elopement. It ended up being our favorite beach on the whole island, and if we could go back in time, I would not have changed the location at all. It was BEAUTIFUL!
The only day of our entire trip to Kauai that was rainy just happened to be their elopement day. We talked about the possibility of rain, and Brittney said that she didn’t care if it rained. I also don’t mind some rain, and sure enough, it started pouring right as we started taking photos. It rained off and on during the entire time we were at Tunnels Beach. They even finished their elopement off seeing sea turtles swimming right off the beach.
Just a little note to any photographers–I had heard that the permit process in Hawaii was such a nightmare. I was a little worried about getting everything squared away for their kauai elopement, but it actually was so easy and quick! If you are looking for permit advice, please reach out to me!
