FURION + CAROLYN || DOWNTOWN LA WEDDING

Ohhhhhhhh my goodness, THIS WEDDING WAS INCREDIBLE.

Furion & Carolyn are both Chinese, so we started the morning off pretty early with a traditional Chinese Tea Ceremony. I had never seen one before, so it was super fun to watch. It started with Furion and his groomsmen coming to Carolyn’s home. They had to convince the bridesmaids to let them in, then the bridesmaids had prepared a series of tests for the boys to pass before Furion could reach Carolyn. It started with them having to do the Swan Arms from Ballet Beautiful, then they had to break an apple in half, and finally had to find Carolyn’s missing shoe! All while Carolyn was waiting in her room for them to come get her.

Once Furion had the shoe, he got to go to the door and prove to Carolyn that he could come in! It was awesome. Once he was let into her room, he put her shoe back on, gave her the ring, and carried her outside. They participated in the traditional tea ceremony. Then, we followed them to Furion’s home where they had a tea ceremony with his parents as well.

By this point, I was feeling a little bit sick. When I had woken up that morning, my stomach just felt weird. I thought I was just hungry and had not gotten enough sleep. I just kept eating oranges and orange juice, just waiting for my stomach to calm down. However, it was not. After the tea ceremony, everyone who was there got to eat some soup and little treats that they had there for us. My stomach was just feeling worse and worse.

Carolyn went and changed into her dress, and we went down to meet Furion in the courtyard for the first look. Literally right as they sat down to read their letters together, I had to hand my camera off to Kellon and ran behind the tree and lost everything I had eaten the past few hours. I instantly felt better, so I was hoping this was just a one-time thing.

Carolyn & Furion are both architects, so they had chosen some of their favorite places around downtown LA to take photos. As soon as they were done with their letters, we headed to walk around. I lasted about 30 minutes before I lost it again. And that is how my day went. I had food poisoning.

The places we went with Furion & Carolyn were so so beautiful and unique! Carolyn’s dress was incredible, and Furion looked so sharp!!!! I just remember always thinking, “How is this my job?!?”

Anyways, we made it through almost all of the places before I threw up again, but this time it literally got all over my clothes, covered my face, was running down my arms, and soaked my shoes. Poor Jed (the videographer) held my hair up while I threw up what felt like gallons of whatever was in my stomach! He’s the real MVP of the day. Not even kidding, I was in the bathroom throwing up every thirty minutes for the rest of the day.

We finished up in downtown and headed to the venue. OH MY HECK! This was the most beautiful venue I had ever shot in, AND easily my most favorite venue I have ever seen. I am not even kidding when I say that I will give $200 off any wedding that books me and is in that venue!!! It was unreal. The colors in there were amazing. The landscape, that architecture, EVERYTHING! Carolyn and Furion had done such an amazing job at decorating the place. The table settings were amazing. They had the coolest little thank you boxes with a marble pattern on them, too. The venue even had the coolest bar with the most colorful wallpaper!!! Half of the venue was inside and the other half was outside, which they had set up for the ceremony.

The ceremony was so sweet. Furion read Carolyn the most eloquent vows I have ever heard, and it had me tearing up. Both Jed and I were amazed at how beautiful the vows were. Right after the ceremony, they moved into a cocktail hour and then dinner. Carolyn even came out in a new dress! At the time, I wasn’t hungry at all, BUT WOW THE FOOD LOOKED AMAZING! I didn’t get to try any of it, but as I was editing the photos, I was pretty much drooling. Kellon still talks about how good the food was.

After dinner was over, they had their first dance, then had a flash mob of the bridal party and some family members. That kicked off the dancing for the night, and I so enjoyed watching everyone dance. That really is so fun for me to watch at every wedding that I shoot. They also had a photobooth going throughout the night. The props were so awesome.

They finished out their night with us by tossing the bouquet and cutting their cake.

WHAT A DAY WITH THEM! They were so very good to work with me as I was sick. Everyone was making sure I had what I needed, and were so good with me every time I had to run off to the bathroom. Seriously, amazing wedding. Amazing couple. Amazing day. I kinda wanna do it all over again.
