DETAILS OF
Colorful Fall Formals in Payson Canyon.
Payson Canyon holds my heart. I have photographed so many places around where I live, and Payson is easily my favorite canyon in Utah County. The Fall time up there is absolutely magical, and it’s always so vibrant. I have shot up there enough to have memorized the patterns of leaves changing from the top of the canyon to the bottom, which helps me take full advantage of the best time of the year.
There is a meadow up in Payson Canyon that I would shoot at quite a bit every summer. It was my favorite meadow to shoot at, and no one really knew about it either. However, there was a fire in Payson Canyon in 2018, and I honestly was devastated. I was so terrified that all of my favorite spots in the canyon were going to burn down. The Canyon was closed for almost a year due to the winter before I could drive back up to see what damage really had happened. I did know that my favorite meadow burned because I saw it on the news, and because of that, I put off driving up there as long as I could. BUT, when Carter and Maddy decided to take advantage of the colorful fall leaves for their formals, I knew I needed to head back up Payson Canyon.
I was beyond relieved to find that all of my other favorite spots in the canyon, with the exception of the pine tree meadow, hadn’t been touched. They were safe! The canyon was actually in way better shape than I anticipated, and I cannot wait until next year when I can go back up and find new spots to shoot at! You know I will be up there almost everyday during the Fall leaves, so if you want to come with me, just head on over to my contact form.
