ALBION BASIN FIRST LOOK – LITTLE COTTONWOOD CANYON – SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH

When Brooke and Austin and I started talking about their formal session, they were determined to do it at Albion Basin. Last year, Albion Basin completely changed their rules and tightened up on who can shoot up there. If you went to Albion Basin before the restrictions were implemented, it was NUTS to say the least. Literally there were so many people there every evening. There was pretty much a photoshoot happening every few feet.

Now, in order to go shoot at Albion, you have to submit an application at least 3 weeks in advance and then if you get approved, you have to pay a good chunk of money to be able to actually shoot up there. When Brooke and Austin mentioned that they wanted to shoot their first look at albion basin, we were definitely past the 3 weeks in advance mark. We ended up needing to move things around because of COVID (hahaha honestly, who hasn’t this year), which meant that we now had the time to apply for our application at Albion.

Thank heavens we had a month to apply because I didn’t get approved until the day of the shoot only like an hour before the shoot began! Haha! It was definitely not prime wildflower time, but we were still able to find plenty of them to shoot in. We hit three different spots up at Albion to get three different looks. The first look was in the first spot, then we found a spot with pretty pine trees and lots of wildflowers. Lastly, we shot at the iconic spot at the top of the hill that overlooks the mountains. I loved how Brooke’s dress and long veil were perfect for Albion.
